Philippe Zarlowski

Philippe Zarlowski is a professor at ESCP Business School. His main research and teaching interests are performance management and measurement systems. He is notably interested in the role of performance measures and accountability systems in policy implementation and organisational transformation. He was the scientific director of the Deloitte Chair on Public Service and Managerial Performance, in partnership with ENA (2013–2017), and co-editor-in-chief of the multidisciplinary journal Politiques et Management Public (2013–2018). He is currently Associate Dean for the MSc programmes and Scientific Director of the MSc in International Project Management. He also teaches in the MBA in International Manage-ment, the Executive MBA, the doctoral programme and several executive programmes. His pedagogy relies mostly on action learning, notably project-based learning and business sim-ulations. He has supported the development of public and private sector organisations through re-search projects or training modules for executives and managers that he has designed and run (notably for BPI France, Eiffage, Banque de France, Groupe Caisse d’Épargne, Delphi, SNCF, Orange, AFPA, Groupama, Saint-Gobain, Renault and other public sector organisa-tions). Before joining ESCP, Philippe Zarlowski was a professor at ESSEC Business School. At ESSEC, he served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty and Head of the Accounting and Control De-partment. He also held positions at the Universities of Tours and Paris Dauphine. He was a visiting researcher at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and at the SCANCOR research centre, Stanford University. He is a graduate of ESCP Business School, Paris School of Eco-nomics and Paris Dauphine University. He holds a doctorate in management and the French authorisation to supervise doctoral dissertations.
